Destructive “benefit” of Capitalism to the humanity
The World Health Organization warns about critical increase of population with psychological disorders. According to its latest reports, there are about 300 million people suffering from depression, 50 million people suffer from dementia, 23 million people are diagnosed with schizophrenia, and 60 million people suffer from bipolar personality disorder in the world. Also, the Lancet Commission consisting of 28 neurologists and public health researchers, warns in its report that growing global crises might cause imperishable harm to psychological health of people. The report states that the number patients with psychological disorders increase all over the world and if the community will not take measures, then it might cause 16 trillion dollars damage to the global economics within the period of 2010 and 2030. According to one of the authors of the report, Vikram Patel, professor at the Harward Medical School, the economics will be negatively affected both by direct expenses for medicine for mental patients, pharmacy and therapy, and by indirect factors: lost productivity and loss of labor capacity, increase of expenses for social care, education and expenses for public security. Patel indicates that following the change of life style in the world, outbreak of mental disorders is observed in the world for the last 25 years. “The situation is critical, but not a single state pays sufficient attention to it. People neglect mental health like nothing else”, Vikram Patel stated. The report clearly shows that the main reason for increase of mental diseases among the Earth’s population is existing capitalist system that sees the life through the prism of material benefit.
