Turkey puts pressure on Hayat Tahrir al-Sham group

Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) group, which is fighting against al-Assad in Syria, is now under pressure of the Turkish government, the official spokesman of the group told Durar ash-Shamiya information agency. The Turkish government puts pressure on Hayat Tahrir al-Sham demanding to leave Idlib and not to interfere in military operations of the Assad regime. HTS board member for political affairs, Dr. Yusuf Hajar, speaking to Durar ash-Shamiya agency, stated, “Negotiations recently held on HTS issues have no justification”, “There is no place for agreements and negotiations in this issue. We are tirelessly fighting to protect the people of Sham and to protect their interests by supporting the revolution and jihad”. “Our relations with neighbor Turkey continued based on achieving stability and security”, the Doctor added. Al-Araby Al-Jadeed (New Arab) newspaper reported last week that the Turkish government gathered leaders of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham in Istanbul and offered them two ways – there is no third way. The Turkish government offered them: either to disband and join other groups, or Turkey will support the groups fighting against HTS. Reportedly, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham rejected this offer.
