Family members of the convicted for religious beliefs appealed to Kyrgyzstan’s president Sooronbay Jeenbekov.
Mothers and family members of the convicts, who were prejudicially sentenced by Kyrgyzstan’s former regime for long terms of imprisonment for Islamic belief, appealed to president Sooronbay Jeenbekov. They published a video appeal in social networks, where they claimed that their relatives were slandered and unjustly sentenced. Mothers with tears in their eyes, complained to the president about that the families were left without bread earner and were in hard situation because of dishonored and corrupted former regime. “Now all court sentences of the previous regime for illegally sentenced political convicts are being re-considered. Therefore, we ask to review the sentences of us and our sons”, they appealed to the president. They also launched a campaign in social networks, addressed to Kyrgyzstan’s government, stating slogans: “If a family is left without bread earner because of his imprisonment, then the state is obliged to care about them. Why are not we paid special confiscation?”, “Will the president pay attention to the appeal of mothers?”, “Mister president, what should the families of convicted do if they are left without bread earner?”… There is the process of power change in Kyrgyzstan. For the first time such process might end peacefully. The difference between the peaceful change of government and takeover of government by people’s rebel is that representatives of the former government run away from the country or immediately put in prison when the power is taken over. When the power changes peacefully, representatives of a new government detect and disclose all illegal actions and machinations of the previous government and bring them to justice, fixing their mistakes and end the process. If the process is not accomplished completely, then a new government will face a crisis very soon, i.e. it will result in that they inherit the reputation of the previous ones. As a result, the corrupted system will remain, no matter how many times people are changed in government. Therefore, mistakes of the previous regime towards Muslims must not be repeated. During the previous regime, when executive authorities and courts publicly slandered Islamic figures, the whole government system covered law breakers showing contempt to the fate of oppressed Muslims and leaving unanswered their complaints. As a result, despair, distrust, and hatred towards the government increased in people, especially Muslims! Eventually the Atambaev regime lost tremendous power, i.e. the support of the people and Ummah! The political elite would not dare to rise against the government if it had such a support. As any dictator rests on the support of a ruling team. A ruling team has to walk in parallel with the people’s position and its view. Based on the above, we address to the new political team in the government and to the president, the only guarantor who unites all these politicians: “Do not follow the way of your predecessors! In the fight against opposition forces, no matter how they are, do not use only the methods of hostility and enmity towards Muslims; do not think bad about them and their own ambitions, violating a legal mechanism that you invented. Regardless of whether we want or not, every Muslim is a citizen of the country: he pays taxes, has legal obligations. That means, Muslims’ rights must be protected!”. Abdurazzak
