Erdogan and the Pope of Rome discussed the Jerusalem issue
Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Pope Francis discussed on the phone the problem of Jerusalem in the context of the US president Donald Trump’s decision to recognize the city as the capital of Israel, official sources of presidential press office report. According to their information, the parties underlined the importance of protecting the status of Jerusalem as this city is holy for three world religions and plays key role for the region’s stability.
Turkiston: Superficially, Erdogan seems like a protector of Muslims’ interests. In particular, his sharp statements against Trump, publicly declaring Israel “occupant and terrorist state” – all this suggests that Erdogan is very concerned about Islamic values. Moreover, he gathered members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Istanbul and declared the Eastern Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine. However, if we deeply analyze details of the situation, although Israel was named as occupant and terrorist state at the OIC meeting, Turkey actually did not cut off neither political, nor military or economic ties with this evil state. On the contrary, almost every day the authorities are arresting Muslims on the ground of “counter terrorism”. Erdogan also said to Trump, “You have no right to solely determine the world’s fate; the world does not consist only of you”. However, the United States are still adopting decisions according to the project of dividing the territory into two states. “We declare about our adherence to just and overall peace based on the project of two states”, the final statement of the organization says. However, it is no secret that the Great Britain insists on the project of “single state” in the Middle East; and the USA is launching the two states project as an alternative. Therefore, in conclusion, we resolvedly declare that the Jerusalem problem will not be resolved by negotiations with the Pope or by the UN resolutions. There is a clear Shariah solution of this problem. When the issue of Palestine raised during ruling of Khalifa Abdulhamid, he did not address to the Pope of Rome, or any international organizations, but instantly followed the Shariah solution for this issue.
